About Us
Discover our story
It all began back in 1880 when settlers from different parts of Colombia began moving away from the war and hunger searching for more promising lands. They found their dream up in the Central Cordillera of the Anders , where they founded several small towns surrounded by incredible landscapes, fertile soils and spring water. After many hardships, the leaders settled and prospered. In 1904 a young girl named Melida, daughter of the founders, told his father that she liked the name Sevilla after a group of singers and dancers that came from the city of Sevilla, Spain.
In response to the coffee market’s challenges, our farm diversified in 1980 with macadamia trees for shade. These trees, originating from Hawaii and Australia, yielded high-oil, large, sweet nuts, contributing to the farm’s transformation into a combined macadamia and coffee production facility. After inheriting the farm in 2006, my generation maintained the family business, transitioning to processed goods in 2017, and by 2020, exporting our quality products from a modern facility.
OUR HISTORY
A decade later...
In 1914, his father, while attending an assembly remembered his daughter’s words and put under consideration this name for the new township. A few months later, my grandfather, Carlos Ossa, got commended to receive the ordinance from the assembly naming it Sevilla. From this point on many other farms where named after cities and towns of Spain, like our farm, Hacienda Flandes.
In an era where families relied on numerous children for farm work due to limited education opportunities, my grandfather’s family thrived through a home-based grocery store selling coffee, cocoa, and fruits to travelers. The store’s success allowed him to expand the farm, cultivating coffee and fruits. In 1960, my father took over, navigating the volatility of Colombia’s coffee industry with disease-resistant breeds. Over a century, our farm evolved from a traditional coffee plantation to a diverse landscape of varietals with a meticulous fermentation process.
